The Role
As a JSMC System Engineer, you’ll have a role that is out of the ordinary. You will work on a project that facilitates the continued provision and management of live radar track feeds.

Day-to-day, you’ll support, manage and optimise the day-to-day operations of a primarily Windows based application system maintaining its operational service contributing and implementing changes to the applications, network and servers solutions.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting end to end service delivery
• Reporting and reviewing project updates and inputs
• Managing the lifecycle of an operational service
• Managing any incidents or issues
• Working with others to implement network, applications and server solutions

Essential experience of the JSMC System Engineer:

• Experience working with IT systems and the basics of network communications
• The ability to work with Windows operating systems and Virtualisation technologies
• Awareness of cyber security principles, configuration control and change management
• Previous experience operating in service driven environments with processes such as ITIL
• Awareness of radar systems and data processing
• Experience working with systems engineering skillsets including requirement elicitation, analysis and flowdowns

This role is 37 hours per week based at our Portsdown Technology Park site.

Portsmouth Technology Park (PTP) is one of QinetiQ’s key facilities, focusing on advanced technology development and engineering services. It is dedicated to research and development, ensuring that complex systems are designed, integrated, and tested effectively to meet operational requirements. The facility utilises sophisticated modelling and simulation techniques to analyse and predict performance.
