Job summary

Pin Point Recruitment is seeking a Jetty Operator at West Thurrock to support safe and efficient jetty operations. You will help load/unload vessels and operate cranes, skid steers and forklifts after training. The role includes routine maintenance, inspections, and working to permit-to-work procedures.

The position is permanent, with training provided where required. Typical hours are 07:00–17:00, Monday to Friday, with some extended days on dry bulk shipments and possible weekend flexibility.

Qualifications

• Ideally experienced in a marine, port or similar environment.
• Mechanically minded with some experience of basic machinery maintenance.
• Comfortable outdoors and in a hands-on role.
• Safety-conscious and able to follow procedures and risk assessments.

Responsibilities

• Support the safe loading and unloading of vessels and dry bulk shipments.
• Operate jetty machinery and mobile plant (cranes, skid steers, forklifts) with proper training.
• Carry out routine inspections and basic maintenance of machinery and site equipment.
• Complete maintenance tasks such as oiling, greasing, visual checks and minor adjustments under supervision.
• Report maintenance needs and log preventative tasks on a tablet.
• Assist with breakdowns and tasks within your competence and permit-to-work procedures.
• Maintain good housekeeping across jetty and surrounding areas.
• Assist with emergency procedures when required.

*Jetty Operator**Location: West Thurrock**£17.67 per hour | Monday to Friday | Permanent*Pin Point Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Jetty Operator to join a busy industrial site in West Thurrock.This is a hands-on role supporting the safe and efficient operation of the jetty, including the loading and discharge of shipping, operation of site machinery and carrying out basic maintenance activities.The successful candidate will ideally have some mechanical or engineering experience and be comfortable working in an industrial environment, including working at height.*Salary & Benefits*· £17.67 per hour · 07:00am – 17:00pm, Monday to Friday · 25 days annual leave + public bank holidays· Permanent position· Full training provided where required*The Role*As a Jetty Operator, you will work closely with the Jetty Foreman and Manager to ensure the jetty operates safely, efficiently and to a high standard.*Your responsibilities will include:*· Supporting the safe loading and unloading of vessels and dry bulk shipments.· Operating jetty machinery and mobile plant, including cranes, skid steers and forklifts, subject to appropriate training.· Carrying out routine inspections and basic maintenance of machinery and site equipment.· Completing basic maintenance tasks such as oiling, greasing, visual inspections and minor adjustments under supervision.· Reporting maintenance requirements and ensuring preventative maintenance tasks are recorded and signed off using a tablet.· Assisting with breakdowns and maintenance activities within your level of competence and the site's permit-to-work procedures.· Working in accordance with risk assessments, safe systems of work and site procedures.· Supporting contractors and ensuring work is carried out safely and in line with permit-to-work requirements.· Maintaining good housekeeping across the jetty and surrounding areas.· Assisting with emergency response procedures when required.· Carrying out other reasonable duties to support the operation of the site.*About You*· Ideally experienced within an marine, port or similar environment.· Mechanically minded, with some experience of basic machinery maintenance.· Comfortable working outdoors and in a hands-on role.· Comfortable working at height.· Safety-conscious and able to follow procedures and risk assessments.· Confident operating machinery, or willing and capable of completing the necessary training.· Reliable, practical and willing to get involved across a varied role.· Able to work independently while also working effectively as part of a team.*Working Hours & Flexibility*· The standard working hours are 07:00am to 17:00pm, Monday to Friday.· On non-shipping days, these will generally be the normal working hours.
