Position Summary

The London Jedi Academy offers a six-month paid placement to all eligible padawan. Jedi who successfully complete the program may be offered a Junior position within the studio.

The Jedi Academy provides the opportunity for artists to learn from highly skilled talent in a variety of creative disciplines. Jedi will be carefully placed into a discipline and will provide entry-level support to that team. The successful applicants will have the opportunity to gain experience in a live production environment through training, mentorship, and real shot-work experience in a fast-paced and highly collaborative studio.

What you'll do:
  1. Assisting Senior Artist, Supervisors or Production, to take smaller tasks off their schedules.
  2. Assist with data migration, ingesting assets, renaming and publishing.
  3. Delivering simple assets/shot work to a good standard and on schedule.
What are we looking for:
  1. A portfolio or reel showcasing artistic ability and potential in VFX.
  2. Demonstrated interest and skills in a specific VFX discipline (e.g., modeling, compositing, animation).
  3. A genuine enthusiasm for the art and craft of visual effects.
  4. Ability to work effectively within a team and communicate clearly.
  5. Open to receive mentorship and develop skills.
  6. Understanding of VFX software and principles.
  7. Logical thinking and the ability to break down complex tasks.
  8. Must have the right to work in the UK (ILM cannot provide relocation or work authorization at this level).
  9. Open to recent graduates (BA, BSc, MA, VFX short courses) or those with minimal junior VFX/Animation industry experience.
  10. Applications must be tailored to a specific VFX discipline (Animation, Compositing, Creature, Crowd, Environments, FX, Generalist, Groom, Layout, Lighting, Look Dev, Modeling, Motion Editing, Paint & Roto, Texture).
Application Requirements:
  1. Submit a combined CV and cover letter (single file).
  2. Include a reel or portfolio showcasing your work.
  3. In your cover letter, explain your passion for VFX and your chosen specialisation. Why do you want to join ILM and become a Jedi?
  4. You cannot edit your application material once submitted.
Application Process:

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an in-person assessment day at the ILM London studio in late May.

The six-month program begins in early Autumn 2025.
