Applause IT Recruitment is seeking a Java Software Engineer in Birmingham. You will work on bespoke, business-critical software across the full development lifecycle, tackling backend, database and web technologies.
The role requires strong Java experience and ownership of projects; Spring Boot, SQL and Linux are a plus, with frontend/full-stack exposure a bonus. Salary ranges £45,000–£52,000 with a benefits package and on-site parking.
We’re working with a growing software business looking to add another Java Software Engineer to their Birmingham development team.
This is a particularly good opportunity for someone who wants to move beyond simply maintaining existing applications and take greater ownership of genuine software development and project-based work.
You’ll be developing bespoke, business-critical software solutions used within the law enforcement sector, working across the full development lifecycle and gaining exposure across backend, database and web technologies.
You don’t need to tick every box.
The key thing we’re looking for is a developer with strong commercial Java experience who can demonstrate meaningful development work, technical problem-solving and ownership of the projects they’ve contributed to.
Experience across Spring Boot, SQL and Linux would put you in a particularly strong position, while broader frontend/full-stack exposure is a bonus.
Alongside the salary, there’s a strong benefits package including 25 days' holiday, 6% employer pension contribution, private medical insurance, life insurance and free onsite parking.
Due to the nature of the projects, applicants will need to be eligible to undergo UK Government Security Clearance.
