Job summary

JPMorganChase is seeking a Software Engineer II in Glasgow within the Commercial & Investment Bank, Payments Technology. You will join an agile team to design, develop, and deliver secure, scalable software in a fast-paced environment, contributing across the full development lifecycle.

You will write high-quality code in modern languages, collaborate with peers, and responsibly leverage AI-assisted tools to boost productivity while adhering to security and reliability standards.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts
• Hands-on experience in system design, development, testing, and operational stability
• Experience developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large-scale environment using modern programming languages and database querying
• Experience across the full Software Development Life Cycle
• Exposure to agile methodologies such as CI/CD, resiliency, and security practices
• Emerging knowledge of software applications and technical processes (e.g., cloud, AI, ML)
• Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools with ability to evaluate outputs
• Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, data sensitivity, and security expectations

Responsibilities

• Execute standard software solutions through design, development, and troubleshooting across multiple system components
• Write secure, high-quality code using at least one programming language with limited guidance
• Design, develop, and troubleshoot with consideration of upstream and downstream systems
• Apply technical troubleshooting to solve basic complexity problems
• Gather, analyze, and draw conclusions from large data sets to identify problems
• Learn and apply SDLC processes and best practices for secure, stable code
• Contribute to a culture of diversity, inclusion, and respect
• Leverage AI coding assist tools to improve code quality and speed, with peer review and secure coding standards
• Use SDLC tools to enhance automation and value
