Job summary

Henderson Scott is seeking a Java Developer for a 6-month contract in Telford with hybrid working (2 days onsite). You will join a busy team redeveloping legacy systems, focusing on backend Java services, test coverage and reliable service delivery.

The role requires strong Java experience, Spring Boot expertise, and the ability to work in an agile environment. Experience with JUnit and related tools is highly desirable, with additional credit for familiarity with JPA, AWS, GitLab and OpenAPI.

Qualifications

• Experience developing Java backend services in an agile environment.
• Strong knowledge of Spring Boot and Java ecosystems.
• Experience writing unit tests with JUnit.
• Ability to work in a Scrum/Agile team.
• Familiarity with cloud or DevOps tools is a plus.

I have an immediate opportunity for an experienced Java Software Developer to join a busy team redeveloping legacy systems. You will work within an agile environment to develop, enhance, and maintain Java-based services that replace or improve legacy systems. The work centres on backend development, test coverage, and reliable service delivery.

• Strong commercial experience with Java
• Proven experience using Spring Boot for backend service development.
• Practical experience writing unit tests with Junit.
• Ability to work effectively in a Scrum or agile team environment.
• Experience with any of the following is beneficial: JPA, Kibana, Maven, Mockito, AWS, GitLab, Helm, OpenAPI, SQL, or Shell Scripting.
