THE JAVA SOFTWARE DEVELOPER ROLE

As a Java Software Developer, you'll be at the forefront of designing and delivering secure, enterprise-grade systems used in mission-critical environments. You'll not only solve high-stakes technical problems, but also guide and mentor junior developers. You'll work with clients to understand needs, apply emerging tech, and develop novel, impactful digital solutions.

JAVA SOFTWARE DEVELOPER ESSENTIAL SKILLS

• Strong Java development experience in environments such as Spring Framework, J2EE, or WildFly/JBOSS
• Proficiency with Java build tools: Maven, Gradle
• Familiarity with modern runtime platforms such as Quarkus, Micronaut, AWS Lambda SnapStart
• Understanding of microservice architectures, REST, websockets or SOAP APIs
• Experience using version control tools such as Git, GitLab, SVN, Mercurial, or Git Flow
• Comfortable using Java development environments such as Eclipse, VSCode, or Jakarta EE

DESIRABLE SKILLS

• Passion for mentoring and developing junior engineers
• Interest in National Security, Defence, or secure communications
• Exposure to performance testing frameworks (e.g. K6)
• Ability to consult with clients and shape software strategy
• Enthusiasm for innovation and emerging technologies
