Job summary

Citi is seeking a Java Developer AVP in Belfast for a hybrid role (up to 2 days at home per week). You will help build and maintain Java applications that power our trading platforms, focusing on performance, reliability and scalable REST APIs with secure authentication.

Work with global teams across time zones, contribute to design sessions, and apply best practices in an evolving SDLC with mentoring and learning opportunities.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial Java development experience.
• Experience with REST APIs and OAuth/Basic Auth.
• Messaging systems experience (Kafka preferred).
• SQL databases (Oracle/SQL Server/DB2).
• Distributed systems and microservices knowledge.

The overall objective of this role is to drive applications development through programming activities.**Responsibilities*** **Platform Support & Enhancement:** Build and maintain common solutions for trading platform monitoring, trade reconciliation, application recovery, and other essential support functions.* **Core Development**: Participate in design sessions with the development team, both employees and vendors located across multiple locations* **Agile SDLC pipeline:** Evaluate and adopt new development tools, libraries, and approaches to improve delivery quality by aligning with latest industry trends* **Continuous Improvement**: Analyze existing software systems and propose solutions to improve overall design, architecture, and efficiency* **Cross functional Collaboration:** Communicate with stakeholders to help shape requirements and de sign decisions* Liasing with production support teams in troubleshooting and debugging applications* Ensure that best practices and standards are followed as part of the application development life cycle.* Provide user/support documentation* Ensure applications meet performance and scalability requirements* Comfortable in using AI based coding assistants and AI powered SDLC processes**Mandatory Skills*** Strong commercial experience as a Java developer.
