Client Server Limited is seeking a Java Developer / Backend Software Engineer in Newcastle (onsite) to £120k. You’ll modernise a trading system, design robust Java solutions, and work closely with Front Office teams to deliver high-performance, low-latency software. AI tools like Claude are part of the modern toolkit, enabling faster delivery.

The role offers a chance to influence architecture, own critical components, and progress in a scaling FinTech environment in Newcastle.

Competenze

• Strong backend Java development experience.
• Experience with trading/finance systems and latency requirements.
• Familiarity with real-time system development and low latency.
• Comfortable using AI tools such as Claude.
• 2:1 or higher in Computer Science from a top-tier university; strong A-level results.

Java Developer / Backend Software Engineer (AI Claude Java) Newcastle onsite to £120k

Do you have expertise with backend Java development within finance / trading environments?

You could be progressing your career in a senior, hands-on Java Developer role at a scaling FinTech.

As a Java Developer you'll in a new client engagement, helping to modernise a sophisticated C++ trading system into a scalable, high-performance Java application. Collaborating closely with Front Office trading teams, product specialists and highly experienced engineers, you'll design and build robust, secure, real-time trading technology with direct impact on the business.

The role combines challenging engineering problems with genuine ownership, giving you the opportunity to influence architecture, make technical decisions and help shape the future platform. You'll also work with modern AI assisted development tools such as Claude to accelerate engineering productivity and delivery.

Location:

You'll join the team in Central Newcastle offices on a fulltime basis (Monday to Friday).

About you:

• You have strong backend, multithreaded Java development experience
• You have a strong knowledge of financial markets and have previous experience of working on trading systems
• You have a good understanding of real-time system development and latency
• You're comfortable using AI tools such as Claude
• You're collaborative and pragmatic with client facing communication skills
• You're naturally curious and have advanced critical thinking and problem solving skills
• An understanding of C++ would be of benefit but it's not essential
• You have achieved a minimum 2.1 BSc in Computer Science or similar technical discipline from a top tier / Russel Group university, backed by A's at A-level
