We have an exciting and rewarding opportunity for you to advance your software engineering career.

As a Java Backend Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Liquidity Risk Technology Team, you will be a key member of an agile team responsible for designing and delivering trusted, market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable manner. Your role involves executing critical technology solutions across various technical areas to support the firm’s business objectives.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Implement software solutions, including design, development, and troubleshooting, with innovative approaches to solve complex technical problems.
  2. Create secure, high-quality production code and maintain algorithms that operate synchronously with relevant systems.
  3. Develop architecture and design artifacts for complex applications, ensuring design constraints are met through software development.
  4. Analyze large, diverse data sets to develop visualizations and reports that facilitate continuous improvement of software applications and systems.
  5. Identify hidden problems and patterns in data proactively, using insights to enhance coding practices and system architecture.
  6. Contribute to communities of practice and explore emerging technologies within the software engineering domain.
  7. Promote a team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and practical experience in the field.
  • Hands-on experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Spark.
  • Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in large corporate environments using modern programming and database querying languages.
  • Knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Understanding of agile methodologies, including CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
  • Knowledge of software applications and technical processes in areas like cloud computing, AI, machine learning, or mobile development.
  • Ability to solve data-oriented problems using technologies like SQL, Relational DB, Spark, NoSQL, with a focus on performance optimization.
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
  • Experience with Spark performance tuning for complex calculations on large datasets.
  • Experience delivering production changes to complex software systems using Scala and Spark.
