Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Java Software Engineer to design, build and deliver scalable back-end services and APIs. You’ll apply object-oriented design, leverage cloud platforms such as Azure and AWS, and work with Agile teams to ship robust solutions across water, transport and government sectors.

You’ll own end-to-end development, engage with clients, participate in code reviews, and continuously improve performance, security and test automation in a hybrid, 2-3 days/week office pattern.

Qualifications

• Solid Java development expertise (8+ years preferred).
• Strong understanding of object-oriented design principles.
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure/AWS) and CI/CD concepts.
• Familiarity with testing frameworks like JUnit and code reviews.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and deliver scalable back-end services and APIs using modern Java practices.
• Optimise performance via multi-threading and concurrency techniques.
• Collaborate with agile teams to deliver high-quality software.
• Utilise cloud platforms (Azure/AWS) and data storage solutions for scalable delivery.
• Participate in design discussions, code reviews, and agile ceremonies.
