Japanese Speaking Trade Finance Sales (VP Level)Ref: TK46256

A major Japanese financial institution based in the City of London is currently seeking a Japanese-speaking Trade Finance Sales professional at the VP level. In this role, you will promote trade finance solutions to Japanese and Asian multinational corporations across the EMEA region, with responsibilities in product management, strategic planning, and development.

Ideal candidates will have prior experience in trade finance sales at a major financial institution or corporate banking, along with foundational knowledge in trade finance and motivation to deepen their expertise.

Working hours: 9:00-17:00, Monday to Friday

Salary: Around £80k, depending on experience

Location: City of London

Trade Finance Sales Main Responsibilities:
  1. Provide trade finance solutions to Japanese and multinational clients
  2. Achieve individual and team revenue targets and KPIs
  3. Manage the entire deal lifecycle from origination to execution
  4. Share progress, risks, and challenges with stakeholders
  5. Coordinate with legal, compliance, and operations teams
  6. Organise and lead training sessions for suppliers
  7. Draft and negotiate legal documents with clients and third parties
  8. Collaborate with middle office to complete AML/KYC procedures
  9. Improve and implement workflows for products
  10. Prepare marketing and presentation materials tailored to client needs
  11. Analyse cash conversion cycles and working capital
  12. Liaise with Tokyo HQ and internal departments for client insights
  13. Work with RM team on proposals, inquiries, and deal pipelines
  14. Build relationships with clients, third-party providers, and financial institutions
  15. Support development of new products and strategies based on client demand
Ideal Candidate for Trade Finance Sales:
  • Sales experience at a major financial institution
  • Knowledge or foundational understanding of trade finance promotion
  • Familiarity with invoice discounting, receivables finance, supply chain finance, LC confirmation, and import LCs
  • Proven ability to acquire new clients and close deals
  • Expertise in trade finance instruments (L/C, receivables, supply chain)
  • Strong negotiation, risk assessment, legal drafting, and compliance skills
  • Understanding of commodity industries related to trade finance
  • IT skills and awareness of fintech trends in trade finance
  • Ability to assess risks and implement mitigation strategies
  • Strategic mindset in business development
  • Business fluency in Japanese and English
