Janklow & Nesbit UK: Assistant to Two Agents

We are thrilled to announce that we are looking for an assistant to join our UK team!

The position will be supporting two agents and is for a candidate who is passionate about adult non-fiction publishing, particularly science, smart thinking and business books.

Requirements
- 1/2+ years of experience in adult non-fiction publishing and widely read in this area
- 1/2+ years of experience reading/editing non-fiction proposals or manuscripts
- Strong administrative experience and organizational skills
- IT skills: MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint
- Excellent communication and phone skills
- A quick learner and entrepreneurial flare

Role Description
Liaising between lawyers and publishers on contracts, and putting deal memos into Bradbury Phillips; reading and editing client proposals; liaising with foreign rights team and co-agents (film and US); posting author news on social media platforms and website; light diary management; managing author requests and assisting with project submissions; keeping track of payments and liaising with the accounts department; reading submissions, writing book reports and answering queries.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with excellent editorial skills who would like to eventually grow their own list at a leading transatlantic literary agency. We are looking for someone who can start as soon as possible. Starting salary 25-32k, depending on experience, plus benefits.
