Job description

Job Title: IT Technician (School Environment)

Contract Length: 6 months

Location: Heathrow (Onsite)

Start Date: ASAP

Rate: Competitive (Inside IR35 / Umbrella or PAYE)

Overview:

We're supporting a secondary school with the appointment of an IT Technician to provide day-to-day technical support across the school's IT estate. You'll be the first point of contact for users across staff and students, handling a mix of support tickets, device setups, and basic network maintenance.

This is a hands-on role, fully on-site, with responsibility for ensuring the smooth running of classroom technology and core infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1st and 2nd line support to staff and students on hardware, software, and network issues
  • Set up, maintain and troubleshoot desktops, laptops, printers, AV equipment, and mobile devices
  • Support with Windows Server administration, Active Directory, and user permissions
  • Assist with routine maintenance, updates, and backups across systems
  • Log and respond to service requests via the helpdesk system
  • Support the wider IT team with ad hoc projects, upgrades and audits
  • Liaise with third-party suppliers where necessary

Technical Environment:

  • Windows 10 / 11, Office 365
  • Active Directory, Group Policy
  • SIMS (or similar MIS experience desirable)
  • Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, switches, patching)
  • Printer and AV troubleshooting (projectors, interactive whiteboards)

Requirements:

  • Previous IT support experience in a school or education setting (preferred)
  • Enhanced DBS (must be current or willing to undergo)
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks in a busy environment
