Job description

WCS Group are part of Marlowe Environmental Services and are looking for an experienced 1st line IT support Technician to join the IT Team on a Fixed Term Basis up to 12 months.

The ideal candidate will be ideally based in the Dinnington area.

The IT team are responsible for supporting and maintaining all MES and associated companies IT systems at a group level. Providing efficient desktop support to all business users.

Reporting to the Service Desk Manager, The main purpose of this role is to provide 1st line IT support for Marlowe Environmental Services (MES) and associated companies, ensuring the smooth operation of IT systems at a group level. This includes:

  • Resolving IT-related faults efficiently within SLA timeframes
  • Providing desktop support to business users across various platforms
  • Offering first-line support via phone, Teams, face-to-face, and email
  • Maintaining and troubleshooting IT systems to ensure minimal downtime

Requirements

Key Duties:

  • Support IT management in maintaining a safe and secure IT estate
  • Log, track, and manage support tickets via the Halo Helpdesk system
  • Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for training
  • Work with senior team members for training and collaborate with third-party vendors
  • Set up, configure, and install new PCs and related equipment per company standards
  • Provide first-line support, escalate complex issues, and travel to company sites as needed

Person Specification - Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in first-line IT support
  • Strong understanding of Windows OS, Microsoft Office, and IT hardware/software troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with core IT tools (Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, Networking)
  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality internal and external customer care
  • Experience building strong relationships with multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to manage multiple workloads and prioritize tasks effectively

Skills and Competences:

  • Confident, proactive, and strong foundational IT knowledge
  • Experience supporting business users on mobile applications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills at all levels
  • Customer-focused with the ability to understand and meet client needs
  • Proactive in task management and issue resolution
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to multiple systems and applications

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • GCSEs (Grade 4/C and above), including Information Technology
  • Understanding of professional, technical, or personal development

Desirable:

  • Azure/Office 365 Fundamentals certification
  • Experience with Sophos MDM and N-able Remote Support Tool
