IT Technician / Computer Hardware Engineer to do Field Service
EPOS Field Service Engineer
We are seeking a confident individual with expertise in PC hardware to perform swap outs of IT and EPOS equipment (electronic point of sale - till systems) for well-known retail brands across the North East region. The ideal home location would be around Sunderland, Durham, or the Newcastle upon Tyne area.
You must possess a full manual driver’s licence. A fully expensed company van will be provided.
Your responsibilities will include driving to multiple sites daily to attend field service calls on IT and EPOS equipment within the client's customers' stores.
Training on EPOS hardware will be provided.
The role involves working 5 days out of 7, including Saturdays and Sundays, on a rotating basis (1 in 2 Saturdays, 1 in 3 Sundays).
Standard working hours are from 09:00 to 17:30, with overtime paid outside these hours.
The package includes a salary of £27,153 plus a company van and overtime. The salary breakdown is a basic of £26,200 and additional shift/rotation on-call payments of approximately £953 per annum.
You will serve as the Evening On Call Engineer, currently scheduled for 1 week in 6, working from 12:00 to 20:00, with emergency on-call duties until 22:00.
Plans are underway to implement a 24/7 on-call schedule, likely to be 1 week in 4. This would involve standard hours from 20:00 to 00:00, with 4 hours as standard working hours, followed by on-call duties from 00:00 to 08:00.
If implemented, the on-call payment will increase to £3,900 per annum, raising the total package to approximately £30,100.
This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week PAYE contract.
Overtime is paid at 1.5x rate from Monday to Saturday and 2x on Sundays and bank holidays, with most engineers earning around £3,000 annually in overtime.
The role offers a fully expensed company van (with personal use), pension, paid holidays, and private medical insurance.
