IT Technician
Location: Barnet, North London
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: Permanent
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary: £90 £120 per day (based on experience)

Step into a key support role where your technical expertise will directly enhance the digital learning environment of a thriving secondary school in Barnet. We are currently recruiting an enthusiastic and solution-focused IT Technician to provide vital on-site IT support for staff and students.

As an IT Technician, you ll become the go-to person for day-to-day IT troubleshooting, maintenance, and user support within the school. This position is ideal for someone with a genuine interest in educational technology and the initiative to keep systems running smoothly in a fast-paced academic environment.

Responsibilities of the IT Technician:
  • Provide first-line technical support for hardware, software, and network issues across the school.

  • Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, printers, AV equipment, and mobile devices.

  • Monitor and maintain the school s IT infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime.

  • Support staff and students with login, password, and software access issues.

  • Maintain asset logs and ensure all IT equipment is secure, up-to-date, and compliant with school policies.

  • Assist with the setup and support of IT resources for classrooms, meetings, and events.

  • Troubleshoot basic network problems and escalate more complex issues to external providers where necessary.

  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive school data.

  • Act as a reliable and supportive IT Technician, upholding high service standards at all times.

Ideal Candidate Profile:
  • Prior experience in an IT support or technician role, ideally in an education or public sector environment.

  • Strong understanding of Windows OS, Microsoft 365, hardware maintenance, and networking basics.

  • Familiarity with school systems (e.g., SIMS, remote desktop software, smartboards) is a plus.

  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills.

  • Proactive, organised, and able to prioritise tasks independently.

  • Holds (or is willing to obtain) an enhanced DBS on the update service.
