Job summary

Norton College in Worcester is seeking an IT Teacher to deliver engaging IT lessons across Entry Level 1 to GCSE and to lead the college's IT curriculum. You will design hands-on learning tailored to each student, inspiring confidence and independence while supporting SEMH needs.

The role involves developing programmes of work, assessing progress, and collaborating with staff to shape a modern IT offering that benefits a diverse learner cohort.

Qualifications

  • Holds QTS with IT specialization.
  • Experience teaching BTEC and GCSE IT qualifications.
  • At least 2 years’ recent experience with pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Ability to adapt teaching for different learning styles and abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to motivate learners.
  • Organised, proactive, able to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and student wellbeing.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver IT lessons across Entry Level to GCSE; differentiate instruction.
  • Lead development and improvement of IT curriculum.
  • Create Programs of Work and Schemes of Study.
  • Monitor pupil progress and maximise outcomes.
  • Coordinate assessments with Examinations Officer; manage entries.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils and families.
  • Adapt teaching for SEMH needs and diverse learners.
  • Stay current with IT and digital technologies.

As our IT Teacher, you'll take the lead in planning, developing and delivering an engaging and accessible IT curriculum that inspires learners of all abilities. Teaching students from Entry Level 1 through to BTEC and GCSE qualifications, you’ll create dynamic, hands‑on learning experiences that build confidence, foster independence and celebrate achievement.

Working within a supportive and forward‑thinking environment, you'll have the freedom to be creative, adapt your teaching to individual needs and make a visible impact every single day.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Delivering engaging and differentiated IT lessons across Entry Level, BTEC and GCSE qualifications
  • Leading the development and continuous improvement of the college's IT curriculum
  • Creating innovative Programmes of Work and Schemes of Study that inspire and motivate learners
  • Monitoring pupil progress, assessing achievement and implementing strategies to maximise outcomes
  • Working closely with the Examinations Officer to coordinate assessments and qualification entries
  • Building positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues to support learning and wellbeing
  • Adapting teaching approaches to meet a wide range of learning styles and SEMH needs
  • Keeping up to date with developments in IT, digital technologies and specialist teaching practice
  • Promoting safeguarding, inclusion and positive behaviour throughout the college community
  • Supporting wider school initiatives and contributing to a collaborative, student‑centred culture
About You
  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a specialism in IT or a related subject
  • Has experience teaching BTEC and GCSE IT qualifications
  • Has at least 2 years’ recent experience working with pupils with SEMH needs
  • Can adapt teaching for different learning styles and abilities
  • Has excellent communication skills and the ability to motivate and inspire learners
  • Is organised, proactive, and able to work independently and collaboratively
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and student wellbeing
