We’re looking for a passionate and knowledgeable IT Teacher with a proven track record of delivering engaging and effective lessons within the FE sector. You’ll have experience teaching a range of qualifications including BTEC Level 2 and 3 in IT, T Levels in Digital, and Functional Skills in ICT. Confident in adapting your teaching to meet the needs of learners at all levels, you’ll prepare students for academic success and progression into exciting digital careers. Your expertise will include industry-relevant content such as programming, cybersecurity, networking, and the latest software tools. You’ll be committed to embedding digital literacy, real-world application, and employability skills into the curriculum. A recognised teaching qualification (such as a PGCE or Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training) is essential, along with up-to-date knowledge of post-16 education standards.

We have an exciting opportunity on offer at City Campus Manchester to join our Business, Computing and Digital Industries Department as an IT Teacher on a permanent, part-time (17.5 hours per week) basis.

We welcome applications from aspiring teachers who are passionate about sharing their industry skills. At The Manchester College, you will be supported by our Teaching Academy to work towards qualified teacher status for post 16 compulsory education, through a Cert Ed/PGCE. This includes 3-4 hours delivery per week and engagement with a mentor to support your progress in the profession while you work. The starting salary for an unqualified teacher is between £28,300.00 – £30,307.50*. It’s a great way to kick-start a rewarding career with full training and support. Once you’ve successfully qualified and demonstrated your teaching competence, you’ll progress to the qualified teacher salary banding.

*Consideration will be given to relevant industry experience and skills with the flexibility to offer increased starting salaries in some circumstances*.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Certificate of education or PGCE
  • Current and valid industry specialism
  • Assessor qualifications (if required by Awarding Organisation)
  • English and maths minimum level 2 Grace C or grade 4 and above
  • Significant Experience of delivering outstanding teaching and learning
  • Proven track record of high-quality teaching in delivering subject specialism or current valid industry
  • Working as a team
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Meet delivery targets and plans
  • Accurate and timely reports and records
  • Positive contribution to planning processes
  • The successful candidate should have relevant qualifications and experience to be able to teach entry 3 to L3 I.T. related qualifications
