Job summary

Fair Ways is seeking an IT Teacher to support learners with Autism Spectrum Conditions at our Eastleigh school. You will deliver 1:1 or small-group sessions, differentiate lessons, and contribute to individual education plans. You should hold QTS/QTLS or equivalent and have KS3/KS4 IT knowledge, with experience in SEN settings.

A driving licence and enhanced DBS are required. The role is 37.5 hours per week, term time only.

Responsibilities

• Deliver individualised and differentiated IT lessons for learners
• Plan and deliver 1:1 or small-group sessions to support ASC learners
• Contribute to assessment, progress monitoring and reporting of student attainment
• Support IEP/PEP development and progress data collection
• Liaise with employers, colleges and training providers to create opportunities for students
• Safeguard students and work according to school policies and statutory requirements

Where and when do we need you?

We are looking for a IT Teacher to support at our school located in Eastleigh. Successful candidates will provide support to our young people with additional needs, specifically learners with Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC). Our students will have all been identified as having Autism and ASC associated needs and as such are better suited to 1:1 or 2:1 learning with a bespoke curriculum based on their individual needs. Students are placed with Fair Ways when most other mainstream or specialist schools have failed them. As such, they are likely to have been out of education for a long period of time, having exhausted multiple placements. As a Teacher at our school you will be involved exciting and rewarding things like:

• Individualised lesson planning, delivery of lessons, marking of work and knowing when and how to differentiate appropriately using approaches which enable students to be taught effectively.
• Helping young people draw up action plans for employment, education and training and support them to achieve these goals. This will include a high standard of planning and delivery of the programme whilst supporting the individual needs of the student.
• Participating in the completion and monitoring of all student assessments and being accountable for student’s attainment, progress, and outcomes with your subject area.
• Supporting the implementation and delivery of each students Individual Education Plan (IEP) and Personal Education Plan (PEP) by providing relevant data to monitor progress, set targets and plan lessons.
• Liaising and negotiating with Employers, Colleges, Universities, and training providers to provide the best opportunities for our students.
• Demonstrating an understanding of, and a willingness to learn, how the young peoples’ early life experiences and how such experiences may result in, or contribute to, severe challenging behaviour.
• Recognising and accepting the possible need to intervene using positive handling strategies in order to make incidents safe, and to work as part of a consistent team.
• Supporting the Head of School and Deputy Head with the curriculum structure and implementation of Teaching and Learning strategies which demonstrate a critical understanding of developments within your subject areas, ensuring the subject curriculum is engaging to all students.
• Understanding the need to safeguard students’ wellbeing in accordance with statutory requirements, including Fair Ways policies and Government legislation.

Successful candidates will be working a 37.5 per week, term time only. All candidates must have a full driving license and have access to the use of a car. Successful candidates will be required to provide an enhanced Disclosure (DBS). This disclosure cost will be met by Fair Ways.
