LOCATIONS: Bristol, Birmingham, Chester, Edinburgh, Halifax, Leeds, or Manchester

HOURS: Full-time – 35 hours per week

WORKING PATTERN: Hybrid, involving at least two days per week at one of the listed office sites.

ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY

We are establishing a new operating model for non-financial risk management and are seeking an IT Systems Risk Specialist to join our Centre of Excellence. You will support robust risk management aligned with the Group’s Enterprise Risk Management Framework (ERMF), advising leaders and Risk Owners on risk appetite decisions, safely and efficiently.

Your role includes implementing risk policies, appetite, and control objectives to facilitate customer, regulatory, and strategic outcomes. Be prepared to challenge norms to enhance experiences for customers and staff.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

Risk and control

  • Contribute to implementing a risk and control oversight plan to assess compliance with laws, regulations, standards, and controls.
  • Provide pragmatic advice to support key risk decisions and trade-offs, influencing senior management.

Reporting & Monitoring

  • Monitor and report on the Group’s risk exposure relative to appetite, highlighting deviations.
  • Develop key risk and performance indicators for effective monitoring.
  • Drive automation in risk measurement, collaborating with technology and analytics teams.

Policy & Governance & Regulatory compliance

  • Design and implement risk policies, control objectives, and appetite to meet regulatory and operational objectives.
  • Review and update policies based on emerging risks and opportunities.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  • Deep operational expertise in IT Systems Risk within a regulated environment, preferably Financial Services.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws, standards, and risk frameworks; experience in policy design and monitoring.
  • Understanding of emerging technologies (AI, DLT, Quantum) and their risks.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance risks and opportunities.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build effective partnerships.
