IT Support Technician (Placement)

POSITION OVERVIEW:
During your IT Technician placement at EOS, you will help to operate and maintain computer systems and networks, to ensure EOS employees have the most effective IT functionality. This position is open specifically for 2nd year IT and Computing students seeking a placement.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

• Serving as the first point of contact for IT support within the organisation
• Installing, configuring and maintaining software and hardware components of computer and network systems
• Diagnosing and troubleshooting software and hardware issues
• Repairing and replacing damaged computer and network components
• Ensuring the security of client and server computers by installing and upgrading antivirus and firewall software
• Supporting people whenever they encounter challenges with computers and network devices
• Maintaining and updating technical documentation regularly
• Testing new hardware and software before full-scale installation

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:

• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels in the organisation and to different levels of technical ability.
• Proven ability to work and deliver effectively within defined measures of success.
• An analytical and pragmatic problem-solving focus.
• Self-motivated and decisive, with the ability to adapt to change and competing demands.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

• Degree in Information Technology or related subject / experience.
• Recognized professional I.T. qualifications or relevant experience.
• Experience in a IT Engineer/Technician role.
• ITIL Qualified (preferable)
• Experience with Windows 10 and Active Directory
• Experience of the O365 suite of applications and tools.
