Job summary

Viridien seeks a highly motivated engineer to develop, implement and support UK Data Centre infrastructure. You will work on HPC hardware, Linux-based systems, and data centre operations, with opportunities to automate repetitive tasks and document procedures.

The role requires a recent degree in computing, an interest in HPC and storage, and the ability to work full-time on-site at the UK HPC Hub. Strong teamwork and communication are essential to success.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems or related computing subjects.
• Foundational Linux administration knowledge gained through university, projects or labs.
• Interest in HPC, compute, storage and data centre technologies is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Support the installation, maintenance and decommissioning of HPC hardware.
• Assist with CPU and GPU systems, oil-immersion and air-cooled servers, and storage.
• Maintain infrastructure services and data centre equipment; document procedures.
• Follow rack cabling standards and assist with audits, spare-parts control and lease-management.
