Viridien is seeking a Senior HPC Hardware Engineer to lead design, deployment and continuous improvement of HPC infrastructure in our UK Data Centre

You will drive reliability and performance across compute, storage and network layers, mentor engineers, and collaborate with facilities and operations to deliver world-class HPC solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
• Strong experience supporting enterprise HPC infrastructure including compute, storage and data centre environments.
• Strong Linux administration experience.
• Experience diagnosing and resolving complex hardware and infrastructure issues.
• Knowledge of HPC system architecture and enterprise server platforms.
• Experience with infrastructure monitoring tools such as Zabbix.
• Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to provide technical leadership and mentor other engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead the installation, maintenance and lifecycle management of HPC server infrastructure.
• Install, upgrade and replace server components including processors, GPUs, storage, networking and system hardware.
• Perform firmware, BIOS and hardware compatibility updates while maintaining platform stability.
• Support hardware deployments, decommissioning and lifecycle planning.
• Manage enterprise storage platforms, monitor performance and coordinate maintenance.
• Maintain spare parts inventory, warranty schedules and lease management.
• Lead hardware troubleshooting, incident resolution and on-call support rota.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation and procedures.
• Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
