IT Support Engineer Location: Pacific House, Kingstown, Carlisle CA3 0LJ Salary: £28,000 £35,000 (Dependent on Experience) Company: JJM Networks About JJM Networks JJM Networks is a respected Managed IT Services Provider located just outside Carlisle, off Junction 42 of the M6. We offer tailored IT support and infrastructure services across Cumbria and beyond. Our solutions include server and network installations, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and ongoing support for clients with critical IT operations. Were a hands-on team, known for our direct client relationships and ability to resolve complex IT issues efficiently. With a focus on quality, continuity, and innovation, we support a growing client base through proactive management and project delivery. The Role Due to new client wins, were expanding our technical team and seeking an experienced IT Support Engineer. Youll be working closely with a variety of businesses, supporting infrastructure and software environments primarily based on Microsoft technologies. This role involves a mix of service desk work, on-site support (typically two days per week), and project implementation. Were looking for someone proactive, adaptable, and confident working both independently and as part of a team. Key Responsibilities Deliver support via phone, remote access, and on-site visits Manage helpdesk tickets using our Remote Monitoring & Management (RMM) system Install, configure, and support Windows Server and desktop environments Design and maintain network infrastructure and associated systems Monitor and improve backup, disaster recovery, and security protocols Maintain documentation and contribute to system/process improvements Liaise directly with clients to understand their needs and deliver tailored IT solutions Participate in system upgrades and technology deployments Essential Skills & Experience Prior experience in an IT support or infrastructure role Strong knowledge of: Microsoft 365, Azure, Windows Server, Windows 10/11 Active Directory, Group Policy IP networking: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs Server hardware, routers, firewalls (Cisco, Draytek, Ubiquiti) Backup systems, restoration, and business continuity planning IT security best practices Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills Strong communication (written and verbal) and customer service focus Full UK driving licence Desirable Skills Relevant industry certifications (e.g. Microsoft, CompTIA) Experience with RMM systems and automation tools Familiarity with scripting or process automation What We Offer Autonomy & Responsibility: Work independently and take ownership of tasks Variety: A diverse role covering service desk, client site support, and project delivery Technology Exposure: Gain experience with current platforms and security tools Professional Growth: Ongoing training and certification opportunities Supportive Environment: Join a friendly and experienced technical team Client Interaction: Build lasting relationships and deliver meaningful IT improvements This role is ideal for a motivated engineer who enjoys variety and values working in a business where their input is recognised.
