Job description

Next Generation is currently recruiting for an IT Support Engineer to work with a well-established engineering company near Halesowen. As the IT Support Engineer, you will oversee IT systems and assets, assist with upgrades and fixes, and provide support as needed.

The ideal candidate will have experience and knowledge of hardware, software, network maintenance, and industry trends to keep the client updated with growing demands.

Working Hours for the IT Support Engineer

Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm (some flexibility offered)

Responsibilities of the IT Support Engineer
  • Maintain essential IT operations, including operating systems, security tools, applications, servers, email systems, laptops, desktops, software, and hardware
  • Handle business-critical IT tasks and system improvements
  • Support faster and smarter business processes and employee productivity
  • Research and evaluate emerging technologies, hardware, and software
  • Support Windows, iOS, and widely used software such as Microsoft, Adobe, and Google Workspace
  • Knowledge of Cyber Security, guidelines, procedures, standards, and controls
  • Install, configure, and support workstation software, hardware, printers, and phones
  • Ensure the company’s Office 365 / SharePoint environment remains secure and evolves with business needs
  • Administer time and attendance systems and other business applications
  • Assist with Mobile Device Management
  • Work on IT projects, including documentation, training, testing, and implementation
  • Ensure application and software upgrades maintain security compliance
  • Support the company’s Infor ERP business solution
  • Assist in Cyber Security matters and support ongoing Cyber Security Essentials + certifications
  • Lead employee training to prevent phishing and cyberattacks
  • Contribute to company policies and procedures
  • Manage Asset Database
Candidate Requirements
  • 3-5 years of experience as an IT Support Engineer (Essential)
  • Knowledge of operating systems, equipment, and technologies
  • Ability to work independently and multitask
  • Maintain confidentiality of company information
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Experience liaising with third parties
