Job description

We’re looking for an IT Service Continuity specialist to join a large UK retailer, coming in to develop, implement and refine ITSC processes, plans and strategies!

Location: Northwest UK Headquarters (Mainly Remote)

Duration: 6 Months

Day Rate: £500-525 Outside IR35

The ideal candidate will have a strong and proven background in IT continuity planning, disaster recovery, risk management, and incident response

Key Accountabilities:

  • Design and implement a framework to ensure IT systems incorporate redundancy, failover mechanisms, and load balancing to prevent single points of failure.
  • Use the Service Catalogue to identify and assess IT services critical to business operations.
  • Prioritise IT services based on their business criticality to minimise disruptions that affect business operations.
  • Design and execute a framework and schedule for ongoing service continuity exercises and simulations, including recovery and failover exercises for identified business-critical systems and services.
  • Review the outcomes and results from the exercises, to refine recovery processes and improve the organisation’s preparedness.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to design and develop detailed service continuity plans for the identified business critical systems and services.

Ideally, you’ll have:

  • Proven experience in IT Service Continuity, Disaster Recovery, and Business Continuity Planning.
  • Thorough knowledge of proven industry-specific standards and frameworks such as ISO 20000, ITIL.
  • Experience with continuity testing and failover exercises.
  • In-depth knowledge of IT systems, including server infrastructure, cloud services, networking, and storage.
  • Expertise in data backup strategies, recovery activities, and high availability design.
  • Experience of working in Retail and/or Logistics
