Job description

IT Senior Systems Support Engineer

Our client, a bank based in the City of London, is looking to recruit an IT Senior Systems Support Engineer with ideally 5 to 7 years of experience in IT, preferably within the banking or financial industry.

You will be working in a small team managing the day-to-day technology infrastructure to ensure efficient operation of the bank.

Key Skills:

• CCNP level networking
• Solarwinds – Service Desk Software experience
• Experience with Palo Alto firewalls
• Firemon – Network Security Devices and Policy Management
• Experience with Avaya PABX systems

Responsibilities:

• Maintain the bank's IT infrastructure by providing first-line support for software, hardware, and networking, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting
• Manage daily operational aspects of projects and scope
• Design, plan, and deploy IT projects to enhance existing infrastructure and applications
• Provide end-user computing support for staff
• Coordinate between London users and Group IT Security for system access requests, ensuring prompt permissions and adherence to protocols
• Implement disaster recovery and backup procedures in line with group standards
• Support daily and periodic reports for the London Compliance team to ensure AML compliance
• Monitor network equipment (switches, firewalls, appliances) and support
• Perform maintenance checks to ensure smooth IT operations
• Maintain the Avaya PABX system and ensure the recording system is operational at all times

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in Windows 10, Windows Server 2016+, Redhat Linux
• Experience with VMWare v6.7+, Veeam Backup & Replication, Symantec Endpoint Protection & Encryption, ManageEngine Patch Manager Plus, Microsoft Office 365
• Networking: Cisco switches and routers, Palo Alto firewalls, LAN/WAN routing
• Hardware: Dell PowerEdge servers, Dell PowerVault SAN storage
• Project management and data analysis skills

Personal Skills:

• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills in English
• Stakeholder engagement skills

Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree or professional qualification in IT, Computer Science, or related fields.

Salary Range:

£55K - £65K
