The IT Operations Engineering Manager will lead and oversee the IT operations engineering team, having a strong technical background, leadership ability, and strategic vision to ensure the optimal performance, availability, and security of our IT services and infrastructure.
So What’s the Mission
As IT Operations Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of experienced IT engineers and third-line support staff, fostering a collaborative and innovative culture. You’ll set clear goals and performance metrics, provide regular feedback through performance reviews, and support the professional growth of your team. Working closely with the broader IT Ops leadership team, you’ll play a key role in building a high-performing, resilient engineering function.
You’ll oversee the design, deployment, and performance of core IT infrastructure—including servers, storage, networking, and cloud environments—in partnership with the Enterprise Architect. Driving automation and configuration management will be central to improving efficiency. You’ll also ensure system reliability, proactively manage performance, and collaborate with the Head of Cyber to integrate IT and OT capabilities. In addition, you'll manage BAU Opex budgets, plan capacity, and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising service quality.
This role also involves leading incident resolution, root cause analysis, and post-incident reviews to support continuous improvement. You’ll work with cross-functional teams to ensure IT services align with business objectives, act as the escalation point for the engineering team, and maintain strong communication with senior IT leadership. Compliance and security are key, working with Cybersecurity and Architecture teams, you’ll help embed best practices, meet regulatory standards, and manage organisational IT risk effectively.
Although based from our Elland office, the role offers flexible working which currently reflects 2 days working from the office. The role will require travel as needed.
