Job Description:

IT Network & Telecommunications Administrator

Salary: £36,000 - £48,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8.30am - 5.30pm (40 hour week)

Location: Southampton office based

Purpose of the Role

Responsible for efficiently managing technology through the use of tools and scripting. Organizes, leads, and coordinates with other parts of IT to ensure components of overall system are managed.

  • Designs and develops complex, integrated solutions to meet business requirements or enhance performance of Garmin’s network and telecommunications systems
  • Performs and evaluates costs analyses and vendor comparisons form small through large scale projects to ensure cost-effective and efficient operations. Measures feasibility of various approaches and makes recommendations
  • Continuously develop technical subject matter expertise on established and emerging network & telecommunications systems and other network & telecommunications technologies
  • Communicate effectively regarding system operations and environment changes
  • Adhere to SOX, PCI, and other regulatory requirements as dictated
  • Understands and avoids capacity, redundancy, and health constraints of network & telecommunications systems
  • Ensures that all security requirements are met or exceeded
  • Demonstrates proficient use and knowledge of standards and procedures
  • Communicates in written and verbal form effectively in a large team or departmental setting
  • Applies Garmin’s Mission Statement and Quality Policy and exhibits enthusiasm for and a desire to see Garmin succeed
  • Serves as a mentor to less experienced IT Administrators (Administrator 1)
  • Provides reliable solutions to a variety of problems using sound problem solving techniques including performing root cause analysis and identification of corrective action for given problems
  • Performs and plans minor version upgrades
  • Uses tools and scripting to efficiently manage technology
  • Makes recommendations for component level improvements
  • Identifies interdependencies in system and application components
  • Coordinates cross team non-project changes
  • Participates in roadmap planning for systems or applications
  • Organizes and leads meetings with users of IT systems
  • Understands change is important and adapts well
  • Welcomes constructive feedback as an opportunity to improve
  • Professionally approaches situations in which conflict is present
  • Appropriate levels of security access is monitored

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business or another technology related field OR 2 years relevant experience AND an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • Demonstrates ability to solve moderately complex technical problems independently
  • Demonstrated experience in successful implementation of technology solutions
  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills in a small team setting
  • Consistently demonstrates quality and effectiveness in work documentation and organization
  • Deep and broad understanding of IT Infrastructure and the relationship and interdependencies between technologies composed of: Telephony: Avaya, SIP, Microsoft Teams Voice
