Job Description:

Our well-established client in Hertford is seeking an IT Network Support Engineer to join their team.

MFK Recruitment has recruited 2 Engineers to this company previously in the past 2 years, both individuals are really enjoying their roles!

Formed in 2003 and based in Hertford, the company provides IT support to customers ranging from home and business to the NHS. Their close working team of engineers and support staff focus on end-user support, both on customer sites and remotely. They have evolved their working processes over many years to provide the best and most efficient service, while fostering positive customer relationships. We are seeking a skilled and experienced IT Network Support Engineer to support and expand our customers’ growing network infrastructure. As part of the infrastructure team, you will act as a bridge between our service desk, projects team, and NOC. The ideal candidate will have expertise in diagnosing circuit and hardware issues, TCP/IP networking including routing, firewalling, and IPAM. Exposure to Meraki SDWAN technologies is a plus, but prior experience is not required.

  • Network Support and Maintenance: Provide support for enterprise network environments. Configure, troubleshoot, and maintain firewall, VPN, switching, Wi-Fi, LAN, and WAN infrastructure.
  • Incident Management: Liaise with ISP and internal service desks to diagnose, escalate, and resolve networking issues within SLAs.
  • Deployment: Assist with hardware deployment and replacement projects.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of enterprise network engineering or administration experience.
  • Problem-solving mindset.
  • Deep understanding of TCP/IP networking.
  • Experience configuring and diagnosing routers, firewalls, and switches.
  • Strong VPN configuration and management skills.
  • Packet capture/Wireshark analysis skills.
  • Good communication skills across teams.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with Meraki infrastructure.
  • VPN meshing or SD-WAN experience.
  • BGP routing knowledge.

Hours of Work:

The support desk operates from 8:00 am to 6:30 pm with flexible start times:

8:00 am – 4:30 pm

9:00 am – 5:30 pm

Initially, hours are 9:00 am - 5:30 pm, with flexibility after probation.
