Job summary

Reed is seeking an IT Infrastructure Tech Lead in St Albans to own a Microsoft-centric environment and drive infrastructure, security, compliance, and cloud initiatives. The role is hybrid (2 days onsite) and supports circa 30 users.

You will partner with the IT Director to deliver hands-on delivery and strategic planning, enabling robust security governance, identity management, and cloud optimization across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Strong experience across Microsoft 365, Azure AD, and Azure infrastructure.
• Experience implementing ISO27001 and data governance controls.
• Proven ability to automate infrastructure deployment and security validation.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary liaison between the business, outsourced MSP, and first-line support teams.
• Administer and maintain the Microsoft 365 and Active Directory environments.
• Manage and develop Azure cloud infrastructure, including: Windows Server Virtual Machines, Microsoft SQL Server, Azure Application Gateway, Azure Key Vault, Managed Identities.
• Oversee network and security operations, including: RBAC and IAM, VPN, MFA and Conditional Access, DKIM/DMARC/SPF, DLP, Group Policy.
• Ensure ISO27001 compliance and support cybersecurity improvement initiatives.
• Lead journey towards Cyber Essentials Plus and Cloud Security Alliance compliance frameworks.
• Fulfil responsibilities of the GDPR Data Protection Officer.
• Manage hardware procurement, refresh cycles, lifecycle management.
• Automate infrastructure deployment, monitoring, and security validation with PowerShell and Azure DevOps.
• Maintain and improve technical documentation, policies, and knowledge bases.
• Champion best practices around least privilege, security governance, and separation of duties.

The Opportunity

We're seeking an experienced IT Infrastructure Tech Lead to join a growing organisation based in St Albans. This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of a modern Microsoft-centric technology environment, working directly with the IT Director to drive infrastructure, security, compliance, and cloud initiatives.

Supporting approximately 30 users, you'll play a pivotal role in maintaining and enhancing the company's IT infrastructure while ensuring security, governance, and operational excellence remain at the forefront of everything you do.

This position would suit a proactive infrastructure professional who enjoys combining hands‑on technical delivery with strategic planning and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

As the IT Infrastructure Tech Lead, you will:

• Act as the primary liaison between the business, outsourced Managed Service Provider, and first-line support teams.
• Administer and maintain the Microsoft 365 and Active Directory environments.
• Manage and develop Azure cloud infrastructure, including:

  • Microsoft SQL Server

  • Azure Key Vault
  • Managed Identities
