In this role, you’ll take ownership of IT infrastructure and helpdesk services, ensuring the delivery of safe, reliable, and scalable systems that support academic, pastoral, and administrative operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the maintenance of the organisation’s IT network under the direction of the Senior IT Engineer, including troubleshooting technical issues and delivering effective resolutions.
  • Respond promptly to support tickets within the service desk, prioritising in-person support where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with third-party vendors and support providers as required.
  • Install, configure, and maintain a variety of devices including, but not limited to, desktop and laptop PCs, tablets, printers, and touchscreen equipment.
  • Manage and administer Microsoft services such as Azure Active Directory, Office 365, and Exchange Online.
  • Coordinate equipment and supply orders with vendors, ensuring timely delivery of consumables such as toner.
  • Provide additional support during peak periods, assisting with the resolution of student device issues.
  • Assist in maintaining the organisation’s IT asset register and ensure documentation for all IT systems is current and accurate.
  • Carry out routine maintenance checks of classroom IT equipment to minimise disruption to teaching and learning.
  • Monitor IT systems and the network for security threats, malfunctions, and performance issues, escalating concerns promptly to the Senior IT Engineer.
  • Ensure all systems are safe and appropriate for pupil use, working closely with safeguarding teams to prevent access to harmful content on IT platforms.
  • Collaborate with external IT partners by providing feedback and adhering to mutually agreed best practices.
  • Contribute to various IT projects throughout the year in partnership with external service providers.

Qualifications and Experience:

Essential:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in computer networks and systems maintenance
  • Knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and applications
  • Experience in Microsoft systems administration (Windows Server, 365, Azure)

Desirable:

  • Experience with Mobile Device Management solutions (e.g. Intune, Apple JAMF)
  • Familiarity with supporting services in the cloud (e.g. SaaS)
  • Experience of VMWare ESXi, vSphere, and vCenter
  • Working knowledge of Apple products (hardware, macOS, iOS)
  • Relevant IT certifications
  • Understanding of web and email security in relation to safeguarding considerations
