Are you a tech-savvy problem solver with a passion for infrastructure and security? We’re looking for an experiencedIT Infrastructure Specialist to join our dynamic team at Stockport and play a key role in maintaining and enhancing our technical infrastructure.

The role


As the IT Infrastructure Specialist, you will work closely with other IS teams to resolve issues and support a national data network consisting of 1,000 end users and an estate of approximately 120 servers.

You will

  • Monitor and maintain the existing IS network and server infrastructure.
  • Maintain and administer Microsoft365, and related Azure components.
  • Maintain and support infrastructure applications (e.g. EPP, EDI, MDM.)
  • Manage infrastructure projects from design to deployment, develop and implement processes to support the infrastructure team.
  • Deploy and maintain cyber security applications and services.
  • Design and implement secure networking and connectivity solutions.
  • Configuration, testing and implementation of replacement networking hardware.
  • Migration of applications and services, across servers and vendors.
  • Provide reactive support to IT issues and third line support to IT Service desk & field engineers.
  • Undertake reactive root-cause analysis.


Attendance/location


Stockport (3 days per week), with ad-hoc UK national travel. A degree of flexibility is required as occasional evening, weekend attendance to minimise user disruption.


About you

You need to have hands-on experience in the following areas:

  • Management and configuration of Microsoft365 / Azure / Entra ID (e.g. Security, SSO, enterprise apps) – essential
  • IP networking principles including routing, DNS, VLANs, NAT – essential
  • Trouble-shooting firewalls and network switches (Cisco / HPE / Aruba) – essential
  • VPN configuration and troubleshooting, web proxy access and security.
  • Management of a virtual server environment (VMWare).
  • Windows Active Directory & GPO management, basic scripting to include Powershell and working with cloud hosted applications and vendors.
  • Network security principles - including design, implementation and analysis of cyber security technologies.
  • Experience in problem and incident management
  • Relevant Industry accreditation (ITIL) a professional project management accreditation (Prince 2) and experience of NetApp & ONTAP storage systems would be beneficial.
