LKQ Europe is seeking an IT infrastructure systems engineer to support and improve server and virtualization infrastructure across Europe. You will work hands-on in Windows and Linux, collaborating with teams on infrastructure projects and ensuring security, documentation, and compliance.

The role offers growth across UK & Europe, with an emphasis on continuous learning and an on-call rotation to support business continuity.

Qualifications

• Experience in IT infrastructure support or systems administration within a large-scale enterprise.
• Familiarity with Windows and Linux server environments, virtualization, and storage.
• Knowledge of AD, DNS, DHCP, and basic networking concepts.

Responsibilities

• Configure, install, and maintain server and virtualization infrastructure.
• Monitor infrastructure platforms, identify issues, and escalate incidents.
• Provide first and second-line support for server and virtualization incidents.
• Perform patching, backups, and assist security/compliance efforts.
• Maintain technical documentation and change management processes.
• Collaborate with Europe-based teams across infrastructure, delivery, and implementation.
• Support audit, compliance, and reporting activities.

Key Responsibilities

As an IT infrastructure systems engineer, you’ll support the day-to-day operation of our infrastructure environment while contributing to both business-as-usual activities and exciting infrastructure projects.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

• Configuring, installing, and maintaining server and virtualization infrastructure in line with LKQ global and European standards.
• Monitoring infrastructure platforms, identifying issues, and resolving incidents or escalating where appropriate.
• Providing first and second-line support for server and virtualization-related incidents and service requests.
• Performing patching activities, backup checks, and supporting security and compliance initiatives.
• Maintaining accurate technical documentation and following change management processes.
• Supporting audit, compliance, and reporting activities.
• Assisting with infrastructure builds, implementations, and operational readiness for new services.
• Collaborating with infrastructure, delivery, and implementation teams across Europe.
• Participating in a paid out-of-hours on-call rotation to support business continuity.
• Contributing to a collaborative team environment and a culture of continuous learning.

Skills and Experience

We’re looking for someone with experience in IT infrastructure support or systems administration who is eager to develop their technical skills within a large‑scale enterprise environment.

You’ll Ideally Have Experience With

• Windows Server and/or Linux administration (Red Hat experience is advantageous).
• Server infrastructure and virtualization technologies including VMware and Hyper‑V.
• Microsoft Active Directory administration.
• Server hardware and backup solutions.
• IT service management and ticketing processes.
• Infrastructure monitoring tools such as PRTG.

Additional Experience

It would also be beneficial if you have exposure to:

• DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, routing, and switching.
• Certificate management.
• Disaster recovery (DR) concepts and testing.
• Cloud technologies and hybrid infrastructure environments.
• Hyperconverged infrastructure platforms.
