PLEASE NOTE - THIS ROLE IS INTERNAL ONLY

We are seeking an IT / Data Engineer who will be vital to overseeing and enhancing the IT systems, databases, and infrastructure at Tropic Biosciences' Norwich, UK site. Reporting directly to the Senior IT Manager, you will ensure Tropic's technological environment remains secure, efficient, and reliable.

Responsibilities include system administration, user support, vendor management, and driving improvements in IT operations. As the primary contact for IT-related tasks, you will work closely with internal teams and external partners to deliver effective technological solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Databases

  1. Coordinate communications between internal stakeholders and external developers to ensure effective management of LIMS development.
  2. Carry out the administration of our Power Platform & 365.
  3. Support troubleshooting and testing development of our system.

Systems / Infrastructure

  1. Support with the management of external IT / data security service providers to ensure that our systems are as secure as possible.
  2. Support with business-critical IT tasks and systems.
  3. Maintain internal IT hardware requirements including laptop and desktop computers, servers, routers, switches, firewalls, printers, phones, and software / security updates.
  4. Work with external support providers to maintain internet, intranet, LANs, WANs, etc., and ensure server administration tasks are completed effectively and efficiently.
  5. Act as the initial point of contact for all internal IT support requests.
  6. Troubleshoot and resolve basic IT issues (problems with emails, connectivity, password resets, etc.), escalating more complex incidents to designated third-party service providers.
  7. Implement processes, procedures, and systems to bring improvements to the workplace.
  8. Support web developers and other service providers to ensure our web domains are secure, maintained effectively, and provide up-to-date information about Tropic.

Miscellaneous

  1. To carry out other duties appropriate to the nature and grade of the post, as directed by the line manager.

Requirements

Essential

  1. Proven experience supporting, maintaining, and configuring a wide range of devices.
  2. Experience with Office 365 platform including setup, configuration, and support.
  3. Experience with 365 Power Platform & Power BI.

Desirable

  1. Experience with LANs, WANs & Internet Technologies.
  2. Experience with Asset Management.
  3. Good level of scripting/coding knowledge of Power FX, Python, C++.
  4. Good experience in first- / second-line IT support.
  5. Exposure to Process mapping and Database 365 architecture.
  6. Highly organized with good communication and negotiation skills.
  7. Good understanding of PC hardware set-up and configuration.
  8. Some understanding of non-windows operating systems e.g. Linux / iOS.
  9. Some knowledge in the bioscience community.
