IT Change Management Lead – 6 Month Fixed Term Contract

Division – Data, Technology & Innovation

Department – Technology Resilience

Salary - National (Edinburgh and Leeds) ranging from £ 49,600 to £ 74,400 and London £ 54,500 to £ 81,600 per annum ( s alary offered will be based on skills and experience)

The team

The Change Management team sits within the Technology Resilience function of the Data, Technology & Innovation (DTI) department. Comprising four members, including the Change Lead, the team is part of the central Service Management group.

Reporting to the Senior Service Manager, you will work alongside peers in Service Desk, Configuration Management and Problem Management, occasionally covering absences. The team is responsible for defining, managing and operating IT Change Management processes to protect live services while enabling efficient change. The role involves both leadership and hands-on support, ensuring alignment with ITIL best practices and supporting broader Service Operations activities.

What will you be doing?

  • Providing strategic leadership and direction for Change Management, aligning processes with FCA objectives and championing best practices across Technology

  • Leading and managing a team of Change Analysts, ensuring high performance, development and collaboration aligned with organisational values

  • Ensuring all IT changes comply with policy, reduce risk to business services and are executed with appropriate governance and oversight

  • Acting as a key escalation point and ambassador for Change Management, promoting strong relationships with the business and third-party suppliers

  • Chairing CAB and e-CAB meetings, managing issues and supporting change scheduling for major projects and critical initiatives

  • Driving continuous improvement by identifying opportunities, leading contributions to Communities of Practice and maintaining up-to-date documentation and reporting

Minimum

  • Proven experience in an operational Change and Configuration Management role, with previous team management responsibility

  • Strong working knowledge of both cloud platforms (e.g. Office 365, AWS) and traditional on-premises technologies

  • ITIL v3 or v4 Foundation certification (or higher)

Essential

  • Experience working in Agile or DevOps environments, including integrating change practices into CI/CD pipelines

  • In-depth expertise in Change Management processes, ideally within large, standards-based corporate environments

  • ITIL-accredited with broad Service Management experience and strong understanding of Change interdependencies across BAU, projects and programmes

  • Technically proficient with the ability to interpret and assess technical change documentation

  • Experience working within multi-supplier service delivery and multi-sourced IT supply chain models

Desirable

  • ITIL Service Transition certification and practical experience in Service Design and industry best practice Change and Configuration Management

  • Strong understanding of risk management within IT Service Management and project governance, ideally with Prince2 or similar project methodology training

  • Experience managing supplier obligations in complex, high-profile and innovative IT environments

  • Familiarity with ServiceNow and discovery tools within enterprise IT service operations
