IT Audit Manager

This role can be based in Birmingham or London.

Our Group Internal Audit team focuses on evaluating what works well and identifying areas for improvement, helping BT build strong foundations to accelerate its purpose and ambitions.

As an Internal Audit Manager, you will provide high-quality assurance to the Board Audit and Risk Committee. You will support the delivery of audits across IT, Networks, and Data, ensuring independent and objective assurance to senior management and the Board. This includes tracking and testing management actions to address audit findings and engaging stakeholders throughout the audit process to deliver reliable and efficient service.

What you'll be doing

• Deliver assigned audits end-to-end in a risk-based, timely manner, utilizing data analytics tools when appropriate, mainly acting as lead auditor.
• Review audit work papers prepared by team members to ensure quality.
• Prepare initial draft audit reports.
• Track and ensure implementation of audit actions and effective remediation.
• Support ongoing communication with business unit management.
• Contribute to management forums and governance committees.
• Provide technical advice, coaching, and mentoring to team members.

The skills you'll need

• Knowledge of industry-standard technology control frameworks (e.g., ISF SoGP, CIS Benchmarks, NIST, ISO 27001).
• Experience leading or delivering IT internal/external audits within complex organizations.
• Excellent communication skills to explain complex concepts to stakeholders.
• Strong project management skills to plan and prioritize effectively.
• Experience working with 1st or 2nd line of defence teams on enterprise risk management.
• Experience in areas like Cloud, Networking, Infrastructure, Security, GDPR, Data Governance, AI, etc.
• Professional Qualifications: CISA or similar preferred.
