Job description

Job Title: IT Associate - application support

Location: Barrow-in-Furness.We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements - please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role

Salary: From £40,748 depending on skills and experience

What you'll be doing:

  • Working with applications that are currently installed on servers and offer further knowledge on other application aspects
  • Monitoring applications to ensure they are working optimally
  • Applying fixes to failures within applications
  • Manage the maintenance of log files, general proactive maintenance and housekeeping of applications
  • Working alongside project teams to support new application implementations, existing application upgrades and configuration of integrations
  • There is a requirement to take part in OOH Support for a limited number of applications in the portfolio
  • Keeping knowledge articles and team documentation up to date and relevant
  • Following ITIL processes for Change Management as an example to ensure changes are implemented in a controlled manner

Your skills and experiences:

Essential

  • Be familiar with working within ITIL aligned processes - Request, Incident, Problem and Change Management
  • Hold experience of supplier management communications with hosting providers and software vendor support teams
  • Prior use of service management tools such as ServiceNow/Service Desk or equivalent
  • Investigative and diagnostic skills gained

Desirable

  • ITILv3 certification to at least foundation level
  • Experience of Oracle and/or SQL Server databases
  • Experience of Unix or Linux

The Specialist Server and Applications team:

This is a really exciting time to join us in the team and work within Application Support where there will be opportunities to understand the wide ranging applications used by BAE Systems and to be a key part of keeping the applications working and therefore ensuring low levels of disruption. There will be further in role training and support to grow and build on current knowledge base as well as exciting future opportunities ahead. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
