Job description

Berry Group (Marsh Wall Ltd) has been part of the UK automotive industry since 2007, building a reputation for delivering high standards of customer service while representing some of the world’s most respected automotive manufacturers. What began as a specialist retailer for BMW and MINI has grown into a multi-franchise retail group serving customers across London and the surrounding areas. From the beginning, the company has focused on a simple philosophy: putting customers first, investing in great people, and representing the brands it partners with to the highest possible standard.

Responsibilities:
  • IT support. Provide first-line support, log and prioritise tickets, troubleshoot routine issues and escalates when needed. Help with staff onboarding and offboarding.

  • Hardware and software. Set up and deploy laptops, desktops and mobile devices; install and configure applications; maintain accurate IT asset records.

  • Network support. Assist with monitoring and connectivity troubleshooting while learning about Wi‑Fi, VPNs and network infrastructure.

  • Systems administration. Support user accounts and permissions, backups, updates and routine maintenance under supervision.

  • Cyber security. Support security monitoring and good security practices. Identify, report and help document potential threats using the team’s procedures.

  • Learning and documentation. Complete apprenticeship coursework and assessments, maintain your training portfolio and document solutions clearly.

The entry requirements for this programme are as follows:
  • 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A‑C) in any subject

  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)

  • Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship in a similar subject

Required skills:
  • Driving licence and access to own vehicle essential

Working hours: 40 hours per week. Cobham is your base, with travel expected across the group. During your first three months you will be based at Cobham and paired with a colleague for site visits. After six months, you can normally begin visiting sites independently, depending on your progress and readiness.

Participation in the ECOS vehicle scheme may be possible for this group role and can be discussed further.

Benefits and future prospects:
Pathway potential progression:
  • Cyber Security: IT Apprentice / Trainee → Cyber Security Analyst → Senior Security Engineer → IT Manager

  • Network Engineering: IT Apprentice / Trainee → Junior Network Engineer → Senior Network Engineer → IT Manager

  • Systems Administration: IT Apprentice / Trainee → Junior Systems Administrator → IT Systems Administrator → IT Manager

These pathways guide your development and help you build transferable skills for IT roles in the UK and internationally. Progression and pay increases depend on successful development; the pathway is a guide rather than a guaranteed promotion timetable.
