Job summary

Cardiff Metropolitan University is seeking an IT Advisor to deliver first and second line technical support to students and staff across the university. You will install and configure workstations to university standards, diagnose faults, and resolve IT hardware and software issues promptly.

You will also support university AV equipment and contribute to a friendly, collaborative IT team that values inclusive, customer-focused service across campus.

Qualifications

  • HND / Degree in IT related subject or professional certifications with proven experience.
  • Ability to communicate technical solutions effectively to individuals from a variety of backgrounds and professional levels.
  • Experience of providing customer support.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Knowledge of audio / video technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1st and 2nd line technical support to students and staff.
  • Install and configure workstations to Cardiff Metropolitan University standards.
  • Diagnose and resolve IT hardware and software issues in a timely manner.
  • Provide support for university audio/visual equipment and respond to issues as required.

Job description

IT Advisor

As our IT Advisor, you will provide 1st and 2nd line technical support to students and staff throughout the University. This includes installation and configuration of workstations to Cardiff Metropolitan University standards, timely fault diagnosis and resolution of IT hardware and software issues. You will also provide support for university audio / visual equipment, responding to issues as required.

What you'll bring

As a confident user of Microsoft Office 365 products, you'll demonstrate a proficient level of understanding of Windows client PC technologies, and of mobile technologies to include iOS and Android in order to provide customer advice and support.

  • HND / Degree in IT related subject or professional certifications with proven experience.
  • Ability to communicate technical solutions effectively to individuals from a variety of backgrounds and professional levels.
  • Experience of providing customer support.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team.
