Job summary

British Steel is seeking an Issuing Authority in Scunthorpe to review and authorise work activities across the Ironmaking department, ensuring all safety controls are in place before work begins. You will assess permits, isolation, hot work and related documentation, coordinating with operations, contractors and safety specialists to protect people and assets.

Qualifications

• Experience in manufacturing or heavy industry is advantageous.
• Strong commitment to safe working practices and procedures.
• Ability to review permits and work packs for safety compliance.
• Willingness to undertake training and competency development.

Responsibilities

• Review, coordinate and authorise work activities to ensure safety.
• Assess work packs, permits and supporting documentation for controls.
• Ensure compliance with Isolation & Immobilisation, Hot Work and other safety rules.
• Communicate hazards and controls to teams and contractors.
• Support maintenance planning and project activity delivery within the department.
