Job summary

Amcogiffen is seeking a Level 3 IRATA Rope Access Technician to join our rail and civil engineering team in Inverness, Scotland. You will deliver high-quality rope access operations across asset maintenance projects on the Scotland rail network, leading safety-focused activities and mentoring junior technicians.

Responsibilities include planning access, conducting risk assessments and method statements, performing inspections, and ensuring compliance with IRATA standards while delivering

Qualifications

• IRATA Level 3 Certification required.
• First Aid Certification required.
• Proven experience in rope access within industrial/geotechnical environments.
• Strong understanding of health and safety regulations related to rope access and asset maintenance.
• Ability to work at heights and in challenging environments.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Valid CSCS card and other relevant certifications.
• Flexibility to support site needs and work outside standard hours if required.
• Full UK driving license and willingness to travel as required for the role.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor rope access technicians, providing technical guidance and supervision during complex rigging, access, and inspection activities.
• Oversee project teams to ensure safety, quality, and adherence to project specifications.
• Coordinate with site management teams to plan and execute work efficiently.
• Perform advanced rope access techniques for inspection, maintenance, and repair on rail assets such as bridges, viaducts, tunnels, and tracks.
• Use visual inspection and non-destructive testing (NDT) methods to assess structural integrity.
• Carry out tasks including drilling, and other maintenance activities on rail assets.
• Conduct detailed inspections of rail infrastructure, identifying defects or potential issues.
• Perform repairs and maintenance tasks as directed, ensuring work meets safety and quality standards.
• Record inspection findings, maintenance activities, and safety checks accurately.
