Overview
The Get Britain Working white paper (November 2024) outlines a new programme called Connect to Work to provide support to adults with disabilities, health conditions and/or other complex needs to move into and/or sustain employment. Local authorities are funded to deliver this programme. This brand-new role will lead the Council's Connect to Work IPS delivery team and build and shape the service from the start.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Connect to Work IPS delivery team to ensure effective operation from launch.
- Build high-performing teams and use data to drive improvement at team and individual levels.
- Place customers at the heart of service delivery and ensure a positive customer experience for people with diverse needs and ambitions.
- Develop and maintain referral pathways by engaging with a wide range of partners and organisations.
- Engage with employers and understand the local employment context to develop and coordinate effective engagement strategies that create opportunities for customers.
- Promote the service to build awareness and drive uptake and referrals, applying knowledge of promotion and communication strategies and trying innovative approaches as needed.
- Ensure flexible working hours to support customers and staff as supported employment often occurs outside standard 9–5 hours.
- Uphold safety for staff and customers, including safeguarding, data protection and health and safety, with robust procedures monitored and reviewed.
- Support robust data capture for performance monitoring and analytical thinking, balancing attention to detail with broader service goals.
- Advise on and implement practices that align with the aims of Connect to Work and the local employment ecosystem.
Qualifications
- Extensive background in managing and leading teams that support adults with disabilities, health conditions or other complex needs.
- Detailed knowledge of supported employment methodologies and fidelity frameworks, preferably SEQF or IPS.
- Strong ability to build and maintain relationships with partners and employers; capable of developing referral and engagement strategies.
- Good understanding of the local employment context and the ability to translate this into practical service delivery.
- Comfort with promoting new services and adopting innovative approaches to reach target groups.
- Flexible working approach and willingness to work outside standard hours when necessary.
- Commitment to safeguarding, data protection and health and safety in all activities.
