Job summary

Bird & Bird in London is seeking a Valuations & Damages Specialist to join our IP team and support the Head of Valuation & Damages. You will work with the legal team to develop and execute the strategy for valuation and damages in disputes.

This role offers the chance to build a new function, move in-house, and collaborate with clients, barristers and cross‑practice teams, focusing on IP disputes with scope in sports, dispute resolution and competition matters.

Qualifications

• Must hold a relevant qualification (accountant, CFA or economist).
• Exceptional analytical skills and strong communication; strategic thinker.
• Experience in disputes calculating damages and valuing businesses/assets.
• Experience drafting expert reports.
• Ability to explain complex financial concepts to non-experts.
• Very strong Word and Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Support Head of Valuation & Damages in London and contribute to strategy.
• Work with the legal team to develop valuation or damages elements for disputes.
• Focus on IP disputes with opportunities across other practice areas.
• Help build and grow a new Valuations & Damages team.
