Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic Patent Paralegal to join our office in Leeds. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within an established and knowledgeable team and be supported by our Head of IP Business Services providing all the assistance you require as you continue your IP journey with us.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Monitor all incoming correspondence and accurately update our records including docketing deadlines on our internal database.
  2. Deal with various formalities including IDS's, Power of Attorney and declarations requiring inventor signatures, including any necessary notarisation and legalisation.
  3. Lead regular support team meetings to promote best practices within the team, ensuring all members understand and adhere to relevant processes.
  4. Monitor team tasks daily via our internal database and coordinate with fee-earners to manage deadlines and provide support as required.
  5. Conduct support team appraisals with the assistance of the Head of IP Business Services as needed.
  6. Assist the IP Administrator(s) with workload during busy periods, including new filings and online responses.
  7. Assist in training new IP Administrators and review their filings before submitting to the fee-earner.
  8. Participate in internal paralegal meetings and keep up to date with Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
  9. Liaise with our Head of IP Business Services where applicable to enhance team performance.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  1. CIPA qualified.
  2. In depth IP portfolio and procedural experience.
  3. Ability to build and maintain a constructive relationship with individuals at all levels, including delivering training where appropriate and overseeing the team to ensure all work is dealt with a timely manner.
  4. High level of knowledge of IP portfolio management system(s), as well as solid IT Literacy, in particular MS Office.
  5. Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills.
  6. Meticulous eye for detail, working consistently to high standards.
