Job description

Our client is seeking an IP Network Engineer to join their team on a full-time basis, working 37.5 hours per week across Guernsey, Jersey, or the Isle of Man. This role is responsible for the engineering provision, development, management, and maintenance of IP and MPLS networks, corporate LANs, broadband RADIUS and BNG platforms, DDoS protection systems, and associated technologies. The role also involves contributing to service design, assurance, and strategic development initiatives, supporting both operational reliability and future service innovation.

Job Duties:
  • Operate, maintain, and manage IP and MPLS networks
  • Operate, maintain, and manage corporate LAN infrastructure
  • Operate, maintain, and manage broadband BNGs and RADIUS platforms
  • Operate, maintain, and manage DDoS protection systems
  • Manage and monitor network monitoring platforms
  • Configure and maintain IP and MPLS product offerings
  • Assist with planning, testing, and implementation of enhancements and new technologies
  • Implement and evaluate IP and MPLS solutions and technologies
  • Liaise with internal teams including Product Management and Service Management
  • Assist with performance tracking, growth planning, and budget forecasting
  • Support the implementation of network security strategies and mitigations
  • Respond to security alerts and incidents within the IP domain
  • Integrate with internal security systems and tools
  • Ensure patch management and secure configuration practices are followed
  • Participate in the standby and callout rota scheme
  • Travel off-Island when required
  • Supervise consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors working on relevant systems
  • Maintain at least one relevant technical professional network qualification
Job Requirements:
  • Prior experience configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting routers and switches
  • Strong knowledge of dynamic routing protocols including OSPF and BGP
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills with a methodical approach
  • High level of motivation and ability to produce accurate, quality work
  • Effective communication skills across all organisational levels
  • Proven experience deploying and supporting IP networks
  • Practical knowledge of Cisco IOS, IOS-XE, or IOS-XR operating systems
  • Associate or professional level Cisco or Juniper accreditation desirable
  • Experience with MPLS, L2VPN, VPLS, L3VPNs, and traffic engineering highly desirable
  • Understanding of broadband BNGs, PPPoE, RADIUS, and DDoS protection beneficial
  • Experience with Juniper JUNOS operating system desirable
  • Good understanding of the telecommunications and IT market
  • Full, valid driving licence required
  • Satisfactory Basic Police Disclosure required due to the security-sensitive nature of the role
  • Willingness to work unsociable hours when required, including as part of a callout rota
