Iona Café Manager

Starting salary £25,705 WTE pro-rata, per annum (based on 37.5hrs per week) (rising to £26,763 following review & satisfactory performance)

25 hours per week over 4 - 5 days

St Columba's exists to give everyone who needs it the very best hospice care. We're an independent charity at the heart of our local community, offering free, flexible and person-centred palliative care and support to our patients and their families.

The Iona Café plays an important role in the hospice, serving patients and their families, staff and the local community. This will be a hands-on role and will involve:

  1. Serving customers
  2. Displaying and replenishing stock
  3. Training, co-ordinating and staffing the café with a team of c90 volunteers
  4. Ensuring a high standard of food hygiene and consistency of service
  5. Creating an open, welcoming, inclusive and friendly atmosphere which reflects the values of the Hospice

The ideal candidate will have previous café/shop and/or volunteer management experience, strong customer service skills, and the ability to deal with a wide range of people in an often-busy environment.

You will have a warm, friendly, and helpful manner and be able to assist others in an empathetic way. You should be approachable and able to build a rapport with volunteers and customers.

Training will be provided.
