Job Description:

As a member of Nuveen’s EMEA & APAC 2nd LOD Risk Team, providing oversight and challenge of Nuveen’s Real Estate investment management and advisory activities, the role-holder will be an advisor to the EMEA & APAC regional business partners and leadership teams and a subject matter expert for the regions to Nuveen Risk Management. Collaborating with colleagues globally, the role-holder will primarily be responsible for investment risk oversight, risk governance and reporting for both Real Estate equity and debt investments.

Core Responsibilities:

• Support the development and operation of a harmonized framework for independent investment risk oversight, advice, and challenge including in relation to new product strategies, existing product portfolio construction, investment selection, performance monitoring and other investment related controls
• Actively promote the dissemination of the investment risk framework and culture across the EMEA & APAC Real Estate business. Provide support and training to the business to ensure consistent application of the framework across regions
• Provide support in the measurement, evaluation and reporting of investment risk across all areas including regular and ad hoc risk analysis information
• Act as the subject matter expert for portfolio liquidity risk across Nuveen Real Estate, perform liquidity risk reporting and stress testing
• Represent Risk in applicable EMEA & APAC operational committees and provide the necessary line of sight for Nuveen Risk
• Participate in/conduct quarterly meetings with portfolio managers to review performance, limit/guideline compliance, major market developments, issues and challenges
• Continuously monitor the compliance with risk limits and fund guidelines throughout the investment process and product lifecycles
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of Investment Risk dashboards and reports
• Assist with the analysis, scenario testing and reporting of emerging risks

Additional Responsibilities

• Provide input into the development, management and maintenance of the broader Nuveen risk framework, including the Risk Appetite Statement, relevant policies and framework documents and risk reporting.
• Facilitate a positive risk culture throughout the European business by actively cultivating and maintaining key relationships, providing advice and support on risk management issues and demonstrating to senior management the benefits to be derived from such a culture.

• Need to be a disciplined and highly motivated individual who can work independently and deliver results with minimal supervision
• Ability to effectively influence, cooperate with, and oversee other departments effectively as this individual will need to advise and oversee a range of first line functions
