Job summary

Pension Insurance Corporation plc is seeking a collaborative and influential leader to partner with Investments, Investment Operations, and IT & Data Office. You will own investment platform services, drive governance, and align with strategic objectives to maximise value from technology investments.

Job description

We are seeking a collaborative and influential professional who can effectively partner with Investments, Investment Operations, and the IT & Data Office to secure stakeholder alignment and deliver enhancements to systems, processes, and technology.

  • Act as the accountable business owner for investment platform services, ensuring platform capabilities, governance and support models remain aligned to PIC's strategic objectives.
  • Provide leadership and direction across platform-related initiatives, ensuring business priorities are understood, appropriately governed and successfully delivered.
  • Drive continuous optimisation of platform capabilities, operating models and user adoption to maximise value realised from strategic technology investments.
  • To apply knowledge and insights concerning the investment activity and how this impacts our policyholders.
  • To deliver strong business outcomes relating to capital, profitability, the Company brand and market reputation whilst achieving positive outcomes to our policyholders, shareholders, and colleagues on a consistent basis.

Specific accountabilities assigned to the role of Investment Platform Services within Investment Operations:
  • Platform Expertise and Support: Act as the recognised authority for investment platform services, providing strategic direction, expert guidance and decision support on platform-related matters across the organisation.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Lead engagement with senior stakeholders across Investments, Operations, Technology, Data and Change to establish priorities, resolve conflicts and drive alignment on platform strategy and roadmap decisions.
  • Risk and Control Awareness: Own and oversee platform-related operational, regulatory and delivery risks, ensuring appropriate controls, governance, escalation and remediation activities are implemented.
  • Solution Design and Value Realisation: Lead the evaluation and prioritisation of platform opportunities, ensuring investment in platform enhancements deliver measurable business value and supports strategic objectives.
  • Change Enablement: Represent Investment Platform Services within strategic change initiatives, providing leadership, governance and decision-making to ensure successful delivery and business readiness.
  • Vendor Relationship Management: Own strategic relationships with the platform providers, overseeing the resolution of issues, tracking enhancement requests, and ensuring alignment on roadmaps, upgrades, and contractual commitments.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the ongoing improvement of platform usage, support processes, and internal knowledge-sharing. Promote a culture of curiosity, accountability, and innovation within the team and across the business.
  • Reporting and Insight: Provide strategic reporting, recommendations and insights to governance forums and senior leadership, supporting informed decision-making and prioritisation.
  • Leadership and Influence: Coach and support colleagues, helping build organisational capability and platform expertise.
Requirements
Knowledge
  • Good working knowledge of various asset classes, including Fixed Income and Derivatives.
  • Deep expertise in investment platforms, particularly BlackRock Aladdin, with the ability to advise senior stakeholders on platform strategy, capabilities, limitations, and roadmap opportunities. Experience with Finbourne LUISD and/or Murex advantageous.
  • Strong working knowledge of investment processes and platforms (e.g. order management, portfolio construction, trading, compliance, settlements, reconciliations, corporate actions)
  • Knowledge of the relevant regulatory environment (PRA and FCA)

  • Ability to operate as the recognised authority for investment platform services, balancing business priorities, risk, cost and strategic objectives.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders, challenge constructively, and secure alignment across Investments, Operations, Technology, Change and third-party providers.
  • High level of organisation and self-motivation
  • Able to move between strategic thinking and hands on delivery
  • Comfortable working independently, collaboratively and on multiple initiatives.
Experience
  • Ability to operate as the recognised authority for investment platform services, balancing business priorities, risk, cost and strategic objectives.
  • Proven experience leading cross-functional initiatives involving Investments, Operations, Technology, Data and Change teams.
  • Experience delivering enhancements or solutions on investment platforms
  • Experience managing strategic vendor relationships and influencing supplier roadmaps to deliver business outcomes.
  • Experience translating business needs into system or process solutions
  • Experience presenting recommendations, risks and progress updates to governance forums and senior leadership.
  • Experience of regulated environments, ideally in financial services or insurance
